DAT fees for 2026
| Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| Exam fee, with score reports to the schools you pick when you apply | $580 |
| Score report requested after you apply | $55 per report |
| Score audit (within 30 days of testing) | $105 |
| Eligibility extension, 45 days, once per application | $150 |
These amounts come from ADA’s 2026 Candidate Guide. Pick every school you might apply to when you fill in the application. It costs nothing extra then, and you can’t change the list afterwards.
Changing or missing your appointment
| Notice before your test | Fee |
|---|---|
| 30 or more business days | $50 |
| 5 to 29 business days | $70 |
| 1 to 4 business days | $150 |
You reschedule through Prometric, not the test center, and you pay Prometric directly. The fee depends on how many business days’ notice you give. Weekends don’t count.
- You must change or cancel by the business day before your test, and at least 24 hours ahead.
- If you don’t show up, or arrive more than 30 minutes late and are turned away, you lose the whole $580.
Partial fee waivers
ADA offers a limited number of partial fee waivers for people in severe financial hardship. A waiver covers 50% of the fee for your first DAT and 50% for one retake, and it includes one free full ADA practice test. It doesn’t cover rescheduling or late score reports.
You qualify only if it’s your first DAT and your first waiver, you’ve received financial aid at your school, and you’re a US citizen or meet the IRS green card or substantial presence test. Waivers go out first come, first served, in batches starting January 1, April 1 and July 1. As of October 2026, ADA says the 2026 waivers are gone and new ones open on January 1, 2027.
Practice costs
ADA’s official practice tests cost $20 per section, or $100 for a full practice test. Paid courses and question banks usually cost several hundred dollars. Our where to learn page compares them.
