Free ACT practice test

This free ACT practice test has 20 questions in the style of the current ACT: six English, six math, four reading and four science, each with four answer choices like the real test. Passages and data tables are written right into the questions, so you don’t need a booklet. They’re our own questions, not ACT’s. The ACT has no pass mark, so aim for our practice target of 14 right, and use ACT’s four free full-length tests when you want the real 2 hours 5 minutes.

Question 1 of 20

In 1902, the town opened its first public [library, the building] held only three shelves of books. Which choice should replace the part in [brackets]? Choose NO CHANGE if it’s already correct.

Sample of the test: same format, 20 questions.

After this, take a full-length ACT practice test

Twenty questions show you the style. To feel the real pace, take one of ACT’s four free full-length practice tests. Each has English, math, reading, science and writing, in timed and untimed versions, online or as a PDF with a scoring key.

Online, finish each section in one sitting: closing the page erases your answers. Then go back to every question you missed or guessed before you take the next one.
