Late cancellation and no-show fees
If you cancel or reschedule your SIE appointment 3 to 10 business days before, Prometric charges $50. Within 2 business days, or if you don’t show up, it costs the full $100.
If you enrolled yourself and miss the appointment, you lose the fee and the enrollment. To try again, you pay $100 for a new window. FINRA doesn’t offer hardship refunds, so put your deadline in your calendar.
Retakes cost the full fee
Each try means a new enrollment and a new $100 fee. You also have to wait between tries: 30 days after a first or second fail and 180 days after a third. From January 19, 2027, the waits drop to 15 and 60 days.
Study costs
FINRA’s content outline and 75-question practice test are free. Paid prep courses run from about $99 to several hundred dollars, depending on whether you want live classes. See our comparison of study options.
