Pearson VUE NMC login: booking and paying for the CBT

You don’t create the account yourself at first. Once the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) confirms you need the Test of Competence, Pearson VUE emails your login with a temporary password. The NMC calls the company Pearson Professional Assessments. Your Pearson VUE NMC login is where you book, pay for and change your computer-based test (CBT), and where your result shows up afterwards.

How do you use your Pearson VUE NMC login?

  1. Wait for the NMC to confirm you need the Test of Competence. If you’re returning to practice, the NMC emails you how to book your CBT and OSCE (objective structured clinical examination).
  2. Look for Pearson VUE’s email with your temporary password. Emails come from addresses ending “@pearson.com”, so check your junk folder.
  3. Sign in and choose View exams.
  4. Pick the exam that matches your application, then select both modules, Part A and Part B, for a first attempt.
  5. Pay at checkout. Each module shows its own price first, but booking both costs £83 in total.

You can book online or by phone, up to one working day ahead. The NMC tells you the date by which you must complete your CBT, and Pearson VUE can’t change it.

Choosing the right exam code

The exam has to match your application type. If it doesn’t, the NMC won’t accept the CBT and you’ll pay to take the right one. Pearson VUE won’t refund a wrong booking, so if you’ve booked the wrong exam, contact Pearson VUE to change the appointment.

ItemFee
Part A and Part B, first sitting£83
Resit of Part A and Part B£83
Resit of Part A only£50
Resit of Part B only£70

You pay Pearson VUE when you book. If you’re testing in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Cameroon, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Tanzania or Uganda and can’t pay by card, Pearson VUE lets you buy test vouchers through MindHub.

The NMC’s own fees, for checking your qualification and for registration, are on the registration page. The OSCE fee is on the Test of Competence page.

Test centres and dates

There are no fixed CBT dates. The test is available on demand, and the NMC says Pearson VUE has test centres in most countries around the world. Its test specification says candidates generally sit the CBT in their home country, though not always. Use Pearson VUE’s test centre finder for NMC exams to see the centres near you.

Reasonable adjustments

If you have a disability, health condition or injury, email the NMC at TOC@nmc-uk.org before you book, with details. Pearson VUE says the NMC reviews requests within 10 working days and may ask for evidence. The CBT booklet says adjustments can include a separate room, up to 25% extra time and breaks.
