Under the Highway Code’s hierarchy of road users (Rule H1), who carries the greatest responsibility to take care?
20 practice questions in the style of the theory test.
How close is this ADI Part 1 theory test practice to the real test?
The real multiple-choice part has 100 questions in 90 minutes, 25 in each category: road procedure; traffic signs and signals, car control, pedestrians and mechanical knowledge; driving test, disabilities and the law; and publications and instructional techniques. These 20 are ours, not DVSA’s, and they aren’t from its revision bank. They test the same kind of facts in different words.
To pass the real test you need 85 overall and at least 20 of 25 in every category, so a strong total with one weak category is a fail. This page scores only the total, so count each category yourself: questions 1 to 5 are road procedure, 6 to 10 signs, car control, pedestrians and mechanical knowledge, 11 to 15 the test and the law, and 16 to 20 publications and teaching. Fewer than 4 right in any group means that category needs more work.
Then take the two free ADI mock tests
Safe Driving for Life, the site DVSA runs with its official publisher, has two free ADI mock tests of 50 questions each, with 43 to pass and 57 minutes on the clock. They’re a good next step once these 20 feel easy. For hazard perception practice, GOV.UK names DVSA’s paid kit.
