Elsevier’s HESI A2 study guide: Admission Assessment Exam Review

Elsevier’s own HESI A2 book is Admission Assessment Exam Review, now in its 6th edition. As of October 2026 it’s $45.99 in print from Elsevier’s US store. It’s written by HESI, which makes it the closest thing to an official study guide.

What about physics?

Older editions of the book also had a physics chapter. The 6th edition doesn’t. If your school still gives a physics section, ask what it covers, and use other materials for it.

How to use it

  1. Ask your school which sections it gives. Skip the chapters you won’t be tested on.
  2. Take the pre-test to find your weakest areas.
  3. Work through those chapters first, then the rest.
  4. Do the online practice exams under timed conditions.
  5. Finish with the post-test and review every rationale, including for questions you got right.
