How much does the NCLEX cost?

As of October 2026, the NCLEX registration fee is $200 in the U.S., $200 for Australia and $360 CAD for Canada. It’s the same for the RN and PN exams. On February 1, 2027, it goes up to $350 in the U.S. and Australia and $570 CAD in Canada. Fees are never refunded, so book carefully.

The fee depends on where you’re seeking a license, not where you live. You pay with a credit, debit or prepaid Visa, Mastercard or American Express card. A school, agency or employer can also pay for you.

When you lose your fee

In all of these cases you have to register and pay again. The international scheduling fee isn’t refunded either.

  • You don’t test before your Authorization to Test (ATT) expires.
  • You cancel or reschedule less than 24 hours before your appointment, or you don’t show up.
  • You arrive more than 30 minutes late, or without acceptable ID.
  • Your nursing board doesn’t make you eligible within 365 days of registering.
  • You register twice for the same exam.

Other costs to expect

Your nursing regulatory body charges its own fee to apply for licensure, separate from the NCLEX fee. The amount depends on your state, province or Ahpra.

Quick Results, unofficial results two business days after the exam, cost $7.95 where your board takes part. Official results are free from your board.
