Ham radio Technician license practice test

Here are 20 free questions in the style of the Technician exam, FCC Element 2. The real exam has 35, all drawn from the public NCVEC pool, and you need 26 right, so aim for 15 out of 20 here. This ham radio technician license practice test is our own, written from the 2026‑2030 Technician syllabus and Part 97 rather than copied from the pool, and it leans toward the rules. You’ll see why each answer is right, and you can ask the tutor if it doesn’t click.

Where can you take a ham radio technician license practice test with the real pool questions?

Since every exam question is published, the best practice after ours is the pool itself. ARRL’s Exam Review builds random practice exams from the pools in use, with short explanations. ARRL says it’s free and you don’t need to be a member.

HamStudy.org has the 2026‑2030 Technician pool with a study mode that tracks what you’ve seen, and says its website is free. You can also read the pool straight from NCVEC’s Word or PDF file.

How the real Technician questions are spread

The syllabus gives each subelement a fixed number of the 35 questions. Ours follow the rules side more closely than the electronics side.
