20 practice questions in the style of the exam.
How our 20 compare with the Basic exam
RIC-3 splits the Basic syllabus into eight sections, and the exam takes one question from each of its 100 topic areas. Ours follow roughly the same split.
| Section of the syllabus | Real exam | Our 20 |
|---|---|---|
| 001 Regulations and policies | 25 | 5 |
| 002 Operating and procedures | 9 | 2 |
| 003 Station assembly, practice and safety | 21 | 4 |
| 004 Circuit components | 6 | 1 |
| 005 Basic electronics and theory | 13 | 3 |
| 006 Feedlines and antenna systems | 13 | 2 |
| 007 Radio wave propagation | 8 | 2 |
| 008 Interference and suppression | 5 | 1 |
The real exam is closed book. The only aid is ISED’s unlabelled sheet of formulas and block diagrams, so study with the labelled copy and you’ll know it on the day.
Where can you take a full 100-question Canada ham radio practice test?
ISED’s amateur radio exam generator builds full practice exams from the real Basic question bank, one question from every category, the same way examiners build the official exam. You can also study by category or print a practice exam with an answer key.
Once you’re passing those comfortably, find an accredited examiner and book.
