What is the Duolingo English Test price?

ItemFee
One test$70
Faster Results$39
Bundle of two testsNot published
Sending scores to schoolsNo fee

Duolingo’s guides give these prices in US dollars only. They don’t list prices in other currencies or a price for the two-test bundle, so check the amount at checkout before you pay. Each retake means buying another test.

Buying a test, step by step

  1. Log in at englishtest.duolingo.com, or make a free account with any valid email address.
  2. Click Buy Now.
  3. Choose one test or a bundle of two.
  4. Choose your results in two days, or the same day with Faster Results.
  5. Pay by card or another method. Duolingo says it takes most major credit cards, and that other methods depend on where you are. If you have a coupon, click Apply Coupon Code.

You then have 21 days to begin the test. With a bundle, you get another 21 days to take the second test after your first result arrives. Duolingo lets you buy up to three tests in any 30-day period.

Faster Results

Faster Results gets your result within 12 hours instead of two days. Duolingo’s partner page puts the price at US$39 for people who buy it themselves. You can add it at any of three points:

  • When you buy the test
  • After buying but before you start, with the Get Faster Results button on your home page
  • Within one hour of submitting your test and finishing the survey after it

Can you take the Duolingo English Test for free?

Only in some cases. What’s free for everyone is Duolingo’s practice test, and sending your certified results to schools. Duolingo also gives out some free tests through its Access Program, more than 48,000 in 2023, its blog says.

Keep the rules in mind, too. If proctors don’t certify your test because a rule was broken, Duolingo can keep the fee.
