How much does the GMAT cost?

Exam fees as of October 2026

How you take itFee
Test center in the US or Canada$275
Online, at home$300

Outside the US and Canada, test center fees differ. GMAC lists £250 in the UK, €275 in mainland Europe and $275 in India. The online exam is $300 wherever it’s offered. Fees can change and taxes may be added, so check GMAC’s Exam Payment page on mba.com when you book.

What else you might pay for

  • Rescheduling or canceling: the fee depends on how far ahead you make the change, with the lowest fees more than 60 days out. GMAC lists the current amounts on its Exam Payment page.
  • Changing a test center appointment by phone: an extra $10 service fee. Doing it online avoids this.
  • Changes within 24 hours of your appointment aren’t allowed. If you don’t show up, you lose the whole fee.
  • Extra score reports: sending to five programs is free if you choose them within 48 hours of your official score being ready. After that, each report costs extra.

Fee waivers and vouchers

Some schools and organizations give out GMAT fee waivers. If you have one, it can cover the exam fee, but not rescheduling fees. A waiver or voucher for the online exam can’t be used at a test center, and the other way around.

We didn’t find any promo codes for the exam fee on GMAC’s own pages. A school’s “GMAT waiver” is something else: it means that program lets you apply without a score.

Retakes cost the full fee

Each attempt is a new registration at the full price. You can take the GMAT up to five times in any 12 months, with at least 16 days between attempts. Since August 2026, your score report also shows a GMAT Superscore that combines your best section scores across attempts, at no extra cost.

Studying can be cheap

GMAC’s Official Starter Kit, with two full practice exams, is free. The Official Guide 2026-2027 adds hundreds of real questions and an online question bank, and Wiley lists it at $49.99, or $30 as an ebook. Take Practice Exam 1 before you buy anything else. Your section scores tell you whether you need a full course or just more questions for one section.
