An arterial blood gas in the chart shows pH 7.28, PaCO2 58 mm Hg and HCO3 26 mEq/L. How should it be interpreted?
20 practice questions in the style of the exam.
How to use this free NBRC practice test
Aim for 14 out of 20, which is 70%. That’s our own target, not an NBRC cut score; the real exams set their own cut scores instead of a percentage. After each answer you can ask the tutor to explain it another way, and the ones you miss come back at the end.
Diagnostic procedures get the most questions, as they do on the outline. The questions follow the TMC outline. From January 4, 2027, the RT Examination replaces the TMC and has its own content outline, so check that one too if you test then.
Where can you take NBRC’s own free practice test?
NBRC gives away a free practice exam for each of its credentialing exams, including the TMC and the RT Examination, and its paid Self-Assessment Examinations explain every answer. Our 20 questions don’t come from NBRC, so take its practice exam too: it runs in the same software as the real test.
