How do you see NSW selective schools test results?
- Log in to the application dashboard with the email and password you registered with, then enter the confirmation code emailed to you.
- Select the 3 dots under the Action column.
- Select View outcomes to see the outcome for each school choice.
- Select Student performance report to see how your child did on the test.
What the NSW performance report shows
For each section, the report puts your child in one of four bands, compared with everyone who sat the test that year:
- Top 10% of candidates.
- Next 15%.
- Next 25%.
- Lowest 50%.
The bands aren’t a percentage of correct answers, and the lowest band isn’t a fail. Test scores and placement ranks aren’t given, and the department says no appeal will release them.
Each family sees only its own child’s outcome and report, in the application dashboard, and the department doesn’t publish minimum entry scores.
What each NSW outcome means
- Offer: accept or decline in the dashboard by the response due date, or you lose it. Once you decline, you can’t get it back.
- Reserve list only: your child may get an offer later if their place on the list is reached.
- Offer and higher choice reserve list: you can accept the offer and stay on the higher school’s reserve list until the reserve decision date.
- Unsuccessful: if this applies to every choice, the schools aren’t listed.
- Not applicable: your child qualified for a higher choice, so the lower one doesn’t apply.
If you accept a Year 7 offer, you get an email asking you to complete the online enrolment within 2 weeks. Enrolment can’t be deferred.
Appealing a NSW outcome
- Appeals go through the dashboard by the due date, typically 5 business days after outcomes are released, with up to 3 documents of evidence.
- Test questions can’t be re-marked.
- Practice test results, results from the National Assessment Program, Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN), IQ scores, school reports and coaching college tests aren’t valid grounds, and nor is disappointment at missing out.
- An appeals panel decides, and its decisions are final.
Victorian exam results
For Year 9 entry in 2027, ACER made each candidate’s exam outcome report available in the application portal from 10:00 am on Monday 3 August 2026, and emailed Round 1 offers that morning. ACER doesn’t give access to the tests or individual scores after the exam, and says results aren’t directly comparable with other tests such as NAPLAN. If there’s no Round 1 offer, ACER tells you by email.
