NDEB exam dates and registration for 2026 and 2027

The National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB) holds the Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge (AFK) twice a year, in February and August, and the Assessment of Clinical Judgement (ACJ) in May and November. The NDEB exam dates for the Virtual OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) in 2027 are March 1, May 20 and November 22. You register in NDEBConnect, and seats can run out before the deadline.

Registration opens at 10:00 and closes at 21:00 Eastern time on the dates shown. NDEB says it normally sets dates a year ahead and that they can change, so check its Examination Dates and Locations page before you plan travel.

Every AFK, ACJ and Virtual OSCE session NDEB lists to November 2027 is in Canada, the US, Australia, New Zealand or Ireland. None is listed anywhere else, including India.

NDEB has said extra seats for the February 2027 AFK open on December 22, 2026, at 10:00 Eastern time. NDECC sessions work differently and are on the NDECC page.

Virtual OSCE application deadlines

For the Virtual OSCE there’s an extra deadline before registration. Your Certification Process application, with every required document, has to reach NDEB by the application deadline, or you can’t register for that exam.

How NDEB registration works

From September 1, 2026, registration for each AFK, ACJ and Virtual OSCE exam has two periods. The first opens on a set date and time and closes when every location is full. The second opens about 6 to 8 weeks before the exam, for seats freed up by withdrawals or added capacity.

You can move to another location only while registration is open, and not from one period to the other. For the Virtual OSCE, NDEB says moving before the registration deadline has no fee. To register:

  1. Log in to NDEBConnect and choose “registration”, then “new registration”.
  2. Pick a location. Only places with space left are shown.
  3. Pay the registration fee.
  4. Watch for NDEB’s email about booking with Prometric, if your exam is at a Prometric centre.

Your registration appears under “my registrations”. NDEB says it usually posts the location memo, with the schedule and exact address, within two weeks of the registration deadline.
