NPPE exam dates for 2027 and how registration works

The National Professional Practice Examination (NPPE) runs five times in 2027, from January 11 to 13 through to November 1 to 3. Each session lasts three days, and you choose your own day and time inside it. Registration closes weeks ahead on a fixed deadline, and it goes through your regulator, which can set a deadline of its own a few days earlier. So check your regulator’s page as well as the NPPE exam dates here.

The exam dates and deadlines are the NPPE program’s. The booking windows are the ones published by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). Meazure Learning, the testing company, sends the booking email on the first day of the window.

If you book the last day of a session, the candidate guide warns that rescheduling within that session because of a problem may be hard.

Your regulator’s deadline may be earlier

The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) and Engineers Nova Scotia publish their own registration deadlines for 2027, a few days before the NPPE program’s. APEGS says its candidates must keep to its dates, by 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time.

How NPPE registration works

  1. Make sure your regulator lets you sit the exam. Some only allow it once your licence application is in or your academics are accepted.
  2. Register and pay through your regulator before the deadline. Registration for a session opens once the deadline for the session before it has passed.
  3. Wait for Meazure Learning’s email on the first day of the booking window, and book a day and time. Choose your time zone carefully.
  4. Look for the confirmation email with your date and time. If you don’t have it at least three weeks before the exam, contact Meazure Learning and ask for it to be sent again.

Late applications aren’t accepted for any reason. Testing accommodation requests also have to reach your regulator before the registration deadline.

Changing or cancelling your NPPE date

Before the registration deadline, you can cancel for a refund or move to another session. After it, the candidate guide says the fee isn’t refundable. Deferrals can be asked for until the booking deadline in Meazure Learning’s email, for a medical emergency or illness, a death in the family, a court appearance or military duty, with documents such as a doctor’s note.

Ask your regulator, not Meazure Learning, to reschedule or cancel. The one exception is moving to another day within the same session, which you arrange with Meazure Learning.

Regulators’ own rules differ. APEGS doesn’t defer exam sessions and only refunds a cancellation made before the booking deadline, without administrative fees and taxes. Engineers Nova Scotia cancels an exam you haven’t booked with Meazure Learning at no charge, but once it’s booked you can’t cancel, defer or get a refund.
