The steps
- Finish a pharmacy technician program accredited by CCAPP, or qualify by another PEBC route. People trained outside Canada start with PEBC's International Evaluation.
- Apply to PEBC and pass Part I (multiple choice) and Part II (OSPE). You get 3 attempts at each, and you must pass both within 3 years of each other.
- Meet your province's requirements, which can include a law or jurisprudence exam, in-person practical training, liability insurance and a criminal record or police check.
- Register with your provincial regulator. Only then can you practise as a pharmacy technician, and you'll need to meet its continuing education rules from then on.

How long does it take to become a pharmacy technician?
PEBC's published dates are in April and September, and each deadline is months earlier: noon Eastern on November 26, 2026 for the April 2027 sitting. Program length is set by each school. After the exams, Ontario's College estimates registration can take about six months if you follow its minimum timelines.
Education requirements in short
Each college sets its own admission rules, so ask the school. What PEBC checks is whether your program was CCAPP-accredited when you graduated; the certification page lists that rule and PEBC's other routes.
