How to book TEF Canada or TCF Canada

You book directly with an approved test centre, not with IRCC. Pick the test, find a centre near you, register and pay through the centre. It then sends you a convocation with your time and place. Many Canadian centres sell out weeks ahead, so book as early as you can.

Booking TEF Canada

  1. Find an approved centre on the Le français des affaires site. CCI Paris Île-de-France lists about 500 centres in more than 110 countries.
  2. Register for a session with that centre. For immigration, sign up for all four tests in one session. For citizenship, listening and speaking only.
  3. Pay the centre. Your registration is final only once it’s paid.
  4. Wait for your convocation by email. Alliance Française d’Edmonton, for example, sends it at the latest a week before the test.

Booking TCF Canada

TCF Canada is given by centres approved by France Éducation international, often universities and Alliances Françaises. You register and pay on the centre’s own site.

Look at the dates closely. In October 2026, the Université de Sherbrooke had its October and November sessions full and its December session open. Memorial University said to check back in December 2026 for its 2027 registration link.

Use the right name and ID

For TEF Canada, bring the same photo ID you registered with, and use it in your IRCC application too. A mismatch can cause trouble later. Check your name is spelled exactly as on your passport before you pay.

Time it around your application

Results take a while. TCF Canada results are released within 15 business days of France Éducation international receiving the session’s papers. For TEF Canada, Alliance Française d’Edmonton quotes 1 to 2 weeks by email, and Alliance Française de Calgary says within 6 weeks.

For Express Entry, results must be less than 2 years old when you create your profile and again when you submit your application. Don’t book so early that they expire mid-process.

If you need to retake

Both tests make you wait 20 days between sittings. For TEF Canada, booking a component again within 20 days cancels the registration.
