How much do TEF Canada and TCF Canada cost?

What some Canadian centres charge, as of October 2026

These are examples, not a national price. None of these pages says whether tax is included. Prices change, so confirm on the centre’s own page before you pay.

Which version do you need?

For Express Entry and other permanent residence programs, you need all four skills, taken on the same day. That’s the full price.

For citizenship, only listening and speaking count. TEF Canada offers a two-test version for this, at a lower price. We couldn’t find a two-test TCF Canada option: its four tests are all required.

Refunds and date changes

Plan for the fee to be non-refundable. CCI Paris Île-de-France says TEF registration is final, and missing the test without a good reason isn’t refunded. With a valid reason, like illness with a document to prove it, reported within a month, you can get one transfer to a new date within 6 months.

Centres add their own rules. Alliance Française de Calgary says no refund or deferral is possible. The Université de Sherbrooke says no cancellation or date change once your registration is confirmed, and it takes payment only by a credit card issued in Canada.

Budget for a retake

If you miss the level you need by a little, you’ll pay the full fee again. Both tests make you wait 20 days between sittings. It’s cheaper to practise with the free official samples until you’re confident than to book early and retake.
