Free GPhC practice questions with answers

Here are 20 free questions we wrote on calculations, medicines and UK pharmacy law, each with five options and an explanation. They don’t come from the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), and this isn’t a mock of its registration assessment. Use these GPhC practice questions as a quick check of what you know before you study further.

Question 1 of 20

A 5 mL ampoule contains lidocaine hydrochloride 2% w/v. How many milligrams of lidocaine hydrochloride does it hold?

20 practice questions we wrote ourselves, on pharmacy topics.

How to use these 20 questions

Our 75% target isn’t a GPhC pass mark, because the GPhC’s pass marks vary between sittings. In the real Part 1 you type each answer in as a number, so treat our calculation options as a check on your working, not as the real format.

If an answer doesn’t make sense, ask the tutor to explain it another way. The ones you miss come back at the end.

Where can you find the GPhC’s own practice questions?

On the GPhC’s sitting page, where the Board of Assessors publishes example questions for Part 1 and Part 2. The study options page explains what they offer and how to use them.
