Free PLAB 1 questions with answers

Here are 20 free questions we wrote on UK clinical practice, two from each of the ten clinical areas, with an explanation for every answer. They don’t come from the General Medical Council (GMC), and this isn’t a mock of the Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) test. Use these PLAB 1 questions as a quick check of what you know.

Question 1 of 20

A 64-year-old man has had central chest pain for 2 hours. His electrocardiogram (ECG) shows ST elevation in leads V1 to V4. Primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) can be delivered within 120 minutes of the time fibrinolysis could be given. What is the most appropriate reperfusion strategy?

20 practice questions we wrote ourselves, on clinical topics.

How should you use these PLAB 1 questions?

Our 75% target isn’t a GMC pass mark, because the GMC sets the PLAB 1 pass mark for each test.

If an explanation doesn’t click, ask the tutor to explain it another way. The PLAB 1 questions you miss come back at the end.

Where to practise after these

The study options page lists the GMC’s own resources and two paid question banks, described from their own sites. Read the GMC’s misconduct warning there before you pay for any course or question bank.
