United Kingdom · Licensing testWhere are the PLAB 1 test centres?
In the UK, PLAB 1 takes place in these cities:
- Belfast
- Birmingham
- Cardiff
- Edinburgh
- London
- Manchester
In the EU, you can sit it in Dublin or Madrid. Outside the UK and EU, it runs at overseas locations, and you see the ones you can book when you log in to GMC Online.
Who sends your venue details
VICTVS, the GMC’s approved supplier, delivers and invigilates PLAB 1 in the UK and EU, and confirms your venue address within seven days of the exam. Outside the UK and EU, the venue details come directly from the British Council.
Only contact VICTVS or the British Council if you haven’t received venue details at least one week before the exam.
Overseas PLAB 1 centres dropped for 2027
The GMC said these six overseas locations would stop running PLAB 1 in 2027, where demand wasn’t high enough to keep them:
- Accra
- Alexandria
- Chennai
- Dhaka
- Hyderabad
- Kolkata
If your preferred location was removed, you can book another UK, EU or international centre in the booking service. The GMC said it would base places and locations for 2028 on demand.
PLAB 2 test centres in Manchester
PLAB 2 is held at the two sites of the GMC’s Clinical Assessment Centre:
- 3 Hardman Square, Manchester M3 3EB
- 3 Hardman Street, Manchester M3 3AW
The addresses look alike, so check your booking confirmation carefully to see which one you’re booked at.
