CPA Exam test centers

You take the CPA Exam at a Prometric test center. There are CPA exam test centers in all 54 US jurisdictions, and you can use any of them, whatever state you applied in. There are also international centers in countries such as England, India, Japan and the UAE, for an extra fee. You can't take it at home.

Where to take the CPA Exam in the US

NASBA says you can test at any Prometric site in the 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, Guam and the US Virgin Islands. You don't have to test in the state you applied to, and there's no extra fee for another state's center, except Guam's surcharge.

Testing somewhere else doesn't change your rules, though. Your own board's education and licensing requirements still apply, and you can only be a candidate in one jurisdiction at a time.

Finding a CPA exam test center near you

You pick a center when you book with Prometric, once your NTS arrives; our scheduling page has the booking rules. California's board reminds its candidates they don't have to test in California.

Are there CPA exam test centers outside the US?

As of October 2026, the AICPA lists international testing in Bahrain, Brazil, Egypt, England, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, South Korea and the UAE. NASBA's list also includes Bermuda.

It costs $390 more per section, or $460 in India. You pay the international fee before you schedule, and an international NTS can't be used at US centers. Alabama, Idaho, North Carolina and the Virgin Islands don't take part, so their candidates test in the US. Your passport is your main ID, even if you're a US citizen living abroad.

If something goes wrong on the day

NASBA's exam page links to Prometric's notices of site closures, so check it if the weather turns. If a serious technical problem spoils your exam, the AICPA says NASBA may offer a free retest. Scores aren't adjusted for other difficulties on the day.
