Which LANTITE practice test should you start with?
Start with the shorter question sets, and keep the full LANTITE practice test for later. ACER says its online practice tests only give a fair picture of where you stand if you haven’t already seen the questions or the worked solutions, so it suggests opening the PDF copies of those tests after you’ve tried them online. You can sit the online versions more than once, and you get a new report each time.
- Sample questions covering literacy and numeracy
- Literacy and numeracy practice questions from 2017, and newer 2023 sets with worked solutions
- Retired questions from the real test’s pool, chosen to show the range of question types and difficulty
- A full literacy practice test and a full numeracy practice test, each with worked solutions and a score equivalence table
Answers are given for every question, and ACER doesn’t post printed copies. If you have a visual impairment, you can ask ACER by email for accessible versions.
A study path built on ACER’s own advice
- Read what the test assesses in ACER’s Skills and Content Guide, which sets out the reading, writing and numeracy skills at each level.
- Work through the sample and practice questions. ACER points out that they’re different from the online practice tests.
- Follow your university’s preparation advice, and take your questions to it.
- After you register, sit the online practice tests without looking at the worked solutions first, and save each report.
- Act on the advice in the report, then go through the worked solutions.
For the numeracy component, try the on-screen calculator before test day. The numeracy page explains how the calculator and non-calculator sections work.
Choosing LANTITE tutoring or a paid course
ACER doesn’t recommend or endorse any commercial preparation course. It says it has no say in what they contain, that some may give misleading advice, and that its own practice material has been wrongly presented on other websites and social media. So use the practice material on ACER’s site as your benchmark, whatever else you buy.
Ask your university what it offers before paying for LANTITE tutoring. ACER says higher education providers play a key role in helping their students meet the standard, and if you don’t meet it, your statement of results tells you to take it to your provider. That statement shows which parts you were below the standard in, which helps you pick help that fits.
