Ontario bar exam practice questions

We wrote these 20 questions ourselves, 10 on barrister topics and 10 on solicitor topics, from criminal procedure and family law to wills and real estate. They aren’t from the Law Society of Ontario (LSO), which writes the real exams, and they don’t come from its study materials. Each answer comes with an explanation, so you can use these Ontario bar exam practice questions to check what you know before you study further.

How to use these Ontario bar exam practice questions

Answer each question, read why the answer is right, and ask the tutor for another explanation when one doesn’t click. The ones you miss come back at the end.

Each question names the law it’s based on, such as the Rules of Professional Conduct or an Ontario statute, so you can look the rule up in your own materials.

Where can you find official Ontario bar exam practice questions?

The LSO’s Guide to licensing examinations includes its own sample questions with answer keys: 10 for the barrister exam and 8 for the solicitor exam. They’re the LSO’s examples, so start there before anything else.
