How much does the UCAT cost?

As of October 2026, the UCAT costs £70 if you take it in the UK and £115 if you take it outside the UK. UK candidates from low-income backgrounds can get a bursary that covers the whole fee. UCAT ANZ is priced in Australian dollars: A$335 in Australia or New Zealand in 2026, with late fees on top if you book after the main deadline.

The UK bursary

The UCAT Bursary Scheme covers the full fee for UK candidates who meet at least one criterion, with one piece of evidence. In 2026 these included free school meals, a 16 to 19 Bursary or EMA, a full-rate student finance maintenance award, and Universal Credit, Income Support, income-based JSA or ESA, or asylum support for you or a parent or guardian you live with.

You apply in your UCAT account, ideally before you book, and it’s usually processed in 3 to 5 working days. If you’re over 21 and not in full-time education, the benefit must be in your own name. You get one bursary per cycle, and if you miss a bursary-paid test you pay to rebook. Universities see that you had a bursary, and the UCAT Consortium says this won’t disadvantage you.

The Australian concession

UCAT ANZ offers a lower fee to candidates named on a current Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card. You apply before booking and get a voucher code to use when you pay. It isn’t available for tests outside Australia, and New Zealand Community Services Cards aren’t accepted. The 2026 concession deadline was 11 May.
