How marks are given
- Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning: 1 mark for each correct answer.
- Decision Making: 1 mark for single-answer questions. Multiple-statement questions are worth 2, and a partly correct answer gets 1.
- Situational Judgement: UCAT ANZ says you get partial marks when your answer is close to the correct one.
- No negative marking, so never leave a question blank.
Why there’s no official converter
Your raw marks in each subtest are turned into a scaled score, so results can be compared fairly across different versions of the test. The Consortium doesn’t publish the conversion. Score calculators on prep websites are estimates based on their own data, not official figures.
What a good UCAT score is (UK, 2026)
| Decile | Total | VR | DM | QR |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | 1590 | 500 | 520 | 530 |
| 3rd | 1780 | 560 | 590 | 600 |
| 5th | 1920 | 600 | 640 | 670 |
| 7th | 2050 | 640 | 690 | 730 |
| 9th | 2250 | 710 | 760 | 820 |
These are the final 2026 UK figures from 42,359 tests. The average total was 1918. The 9th decile is 2250, so roughly the top 10% scored above that. In the SJT, 15% got Band 1, 40% Band 2, 34% Band 3 and 11% Band 4. What counts as “good” depends on the universities you apply to.
How universities use your score
It varies. Some set a threshold you must reach. Some combine your score with your grades, with a large or small weighting. Some look at subtest scores, and some only use the UCAT for borderline cases. More and more use the SJT, and some exclude lower bands. Read each university’s admissions page.
When you get your score
UK: you get a score report before you leave the test centre, and it’s in your UCAT account within 24 hours. Universities get results in early November, and they’re valid for the next UCAS cycle only. UCAT ANZ: Pearson emails you within 24 hours, universities get results in early September, and they count for the next year’s entry only.
