Official UCAT practice tests and question banks

There’s no official UCAT textbook. The UCAT Consortium’s own preparation material is online and free: a Tour Tutorial, question tutorials for each subtest, 15 question banks and 12 practice tests. The UCAT and UCAT ANZ websites both have them. They run in the same software as the real test, so they’re a better guide than any PDF.

What’s on the official site

ResourceWhat you get
Tour TutorialA walk-through of the onscreen calculator, navigator, flagging and keyboard shortcuts
Question tutorialsStrategies and worked examples for each subtest
Question banks15 banks: 4 each for Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning, 3 for Situational Judgement
Practice tests4 full tests (A to D), each in standard timing, extra-time and untimed versions

Your progress and scores aren’t saved, so note which ones you’ve done. Use “Explain Answer” to see the reasoning for each question.

A sensible order

  1. Do the Tour Tutorial first, so the tools don’t slow you down later.
  2. Read the question tutorial for each subtest.
  3. Work through the question banks one subtest at a time, untimed to start with.
  4. Take the four timed practice tests closer to your test date, in one sitting each.

Printed books and PDFs

Commercial UCAT books and PDF question packs exist, but the UCAT Consortium doesn’t endorse any paid-for preparation. Check the publication date before you buy: anything printed before 2025 includes Abstract Reasoning, which is no longer in the test, and older timings.
