Start with MVD’s free Driver License Manual and its online practice tests. The knowledge test is based on the manual. If you want more practice, the apps and websites below are the ones people actually use, and we checked each one’s price and what you get for free in October 2026. Wondering about Class D? That’s Arizona’s regular operator license for drivers 18 and over. Under 18 you get a Class G graduated license instead, and you study for the same knowledge test either way.

The whole manual
MVD says the driver license knowledge test is based on this manual, and it links the download from its new-to-Arizona and teen pages. We couldn’t open the file itself in October 2026, so get the current copy straight from MVD.
MVD’s FAQ confirms it offers driver license practice tests online, and its new-resident pages point you to them before the real test. A good final check, since they come from the people who write the test.
The Legislature’s own site. Heavy reading, but useful when you want the exact rule, like the parking distances in section 28-873 or the teen license limits in 28-3174.

Some practice for free
Game-style practice with a shorter take on the manual. Its Arizona page says it has 600+ Arizona questions. Very well rated: 4.7 stars from about 239,000 ratings on the App Store.
Six Arizona practice tests, road sign tests, a Spanish test and manual audio
These two are the same company. The website has six free Arizona permit practice tests, several road sign tests, a Spanish practice test and an audio version of the manual (about 2 hours 43 minutes). The DMV Genie app has 4.8 stars from about 184,000 ratings.
The most-rated Arizona-only app we found: 4.7 stars from 154 ratings. Its last update was in January 2022, so check anything that looks out of date against the manual.
Lots of channels talk through Arizona permit practice questions. Handy if you learn better by listening. They’re unofficial, so check anything surprising against the manual.
Not required in Arizona, but it can save you time. Finish an approved high school or private driver education program and MVD waives the road test for your Class G license. A course from a traffic survival school or a Supreme Court-approved defensive driving school cuts your supervised practice from 30 hours to 20 (6 at night), though you still take the road test.
