How the ATI TEAS score works

You get a total score from 0% to 100%, a score for each section, and an academic preparedness level from Developmental to Exemplary. ATI doesn’t pass or fail you. Your school compares your ATI TEAS score with the cutoff it sets, and that cutoff differs from program to program.

What your ATI TEAS score report shows

  • A total score from 0% to 100%. It starts from the share of questions you got right, then ATI adjusts it for how hard your version of the test was, so scores from different forms can be compared.
  • A score for each of the four sections, adjusted the same way. They don’t add up to the total.
  • Scores for smaller areas, like chemistry or craft and structure. These aren’t adjusted, so don’t compare them between attempts.
  • The national mean, your program’s mean and your percentile rank next to each score.
  • Topics to Review, with the Study Manual chapter for each objective.

The 20 unscored pretest questions don’t count, and there’s no penalty for a wrong guess.

Is there an ATI TEAS passing score?

No. ATI says there is no universal passing score: each school sets its own cut score, and may weigh it alongside your GPA and other parts of your application. ATI says your school will most likely want you at Proficient or above, which on Version 7 starts at 58.7%.

Cutoffs differ between programs, so take the number from your own program’s admissions page, or ask admissions.

How long is an ATI TEAS score good for?

ATI says scores are usually valid for two years, but each school decides, and some accept them for less. In a year when ATI changes the test blueprint, schools may cut that to a year or less.

Is the ATI TEAS test hard?

ATI doesn’t rate its difficulty, but its own TEAS page says 40% of test-takers must retake the TEAS. Your score report’s national mean and percentile rank show how your result compares with other test-takers.

A practice test is the quickest way to see which section will be hard for you.
