What’s in ASPPB’s EPPP pass rate report
ASPPB publishes the report every year, and each edition covers the latest five-year window. In the 2026 edition:
- Only first-time takers of EPPP Part 1 (Knowledge) are counted.
- The programs are doctoral programs accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) in 2025.
- For each program with five or more takers, you see the number tested, the pass rate and the average percent correct in each of the eight content areas.
- Programs with four or fewer takers show neither a number nor a rate, to protect candidates’ privacy.
- Program names come from what candidates typed when they registered, and the figures aren’t tied to the year anyone studied or graduated.
ASPPB’s report notes that takers from programs in Puerto Rico and Quebec sat Part 1 voluntarily, because applicants there didn’t have to pass it. ASPPB’s EPPP page says all 66 member jurisdictions require Part 1, so if you’re applying in either place, ask that board.
EPPP pass rates by school
Your own program’s line tells you more than either average. Look it up in the report by state or province, then by school and program. ASPPB adds that “across most sample years”, first-time takers from accredited programs “achieve an average pass rate above 80%”.
ASPPB asks readers to take care when comparing schools, and calls the EPPP only one measure of a program’s outcomes. It also notes that the 2021 and 2022 figures may reflect the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on training.
Is there a pass rate for EPPP Part 2?
Not in this report. It covers Part 1 scores only, so ASPPB’s yearly figures say nothing about Part 2 (Skills), which some boards require on top of Part 1.
If you’re worried about passing
ASPPB recommends taking Part 1 soon after your academic training, while what you learned is fresh. If you don’t pass, your score report shows how you did in each domain, and your board decides when you can try again.
