How much does the EPPP exam cost?
| Item | Fee |
|---|---|
| Part 1 (Knowledge) exam fee | $600 |
| Part 2 (Skills) exam fee | $450 |
| Pearson VUE sitting fee, each sitting | $91.88 |
| Reschedule more than 31 days ahead | $0 |
| Change 24 hours to 31 days ahead | $87.50 plus tax |
| Change within 24 hours, or no-show | All fees lost |
By our own sum, Part 1 comes to $691.88 with the sitting fee, and both parts to $1,233.76. ASPPB lists the fees separately.
“Change” means rescheduling or cancelling. Pearson VUE sets and collects those fees when you make the change.
Your board sets its own license application fee, so check its website. ASPPB’s sample exams are extra, and their prices are on the study options page.
You pay in Clarus by American Express, Visa, MasterCard or Discover, and your receipt is kept in its Digital Wallet.
How do you register for the EPPP?
- Apply for a license with the psychology board in the state, province or territory where you want to practice. The board checks that you meet its requirements.
- If it approves you, the board enters you in Clarus, and you get an automated email to set a password and log in.
- Check your details. Your first and last name must match the two IDs you’ll show at the test center. If something’s wrong, use the change request links in Clarus.
- Need accommodations for a disability? Tick the Exam Accommodations box now and send your documents to your board. You can’t book until the review is finished, and ASPPB’s review and Pearson VUE’s plan can take 10 to 15 business days after your board approves.
- Pay the exam fee and sitting fee in Clarus. You get an Authorization to Test, which is good for one appointment.
- Book with Pearson VUE online or at 800-513-6910. Pearson VUE emails you a confirmation within 24 hours.
Part 2 works the same way, through a separate workflow in Clarus that your board assigns.
ASPPB moved EPPP registration from Certemy to Clarus, which it scheduled to launch on September 29, 2026. When we checked in October 2026, ASPPB’s Registration and Fees and Retake Process pages named Certemy, while its September 2026 handbook and its notice about the switch name Clarus.
When can you take the EPPP?
There are no national EPPP exam dates. ASPPB says the exam is given year-round at Pearson VUE centers, so you choose the day and time when you book. You must sit it within 12 months of paying, or by the end of your board’s testing window if that comes sooner. Your window dates are on your Clarus dashboard.
Book early. ASPPB warns that EPPP slots are limited because the centers also test people in other professions. Pearson VUE is ASPPB’s exam vendor, with more than 275 test centers in the US and Canada, and ASPPB said in September 2026 that this isn’t changing.
Fees for the 2027 beta test and the new EPPP
| Exam | Fee |
|---|---|
| EPPP beta test, March to April 2027 | $100 |
| Integrated EPPP until March 31, 2028 | $600 |
| Integrated EPPP from April 1, 2028 | $650 |
The Pearson VUE sitting fee comes on top of each, and ASPPB gives the beta test’s total as $191.88. If you take the beta and don’t pass, ASPPB says you can take Part 1 once for a reduced $100 exam fee, plus the sitting fee.
ASPPB’s board plans to consider fee increases every two years in line with the Consumer Price Index, starting April 1, 2030.
Refunds, rescheduling and no-shows
ASPPB doesn’t refund EPPP fees for any reason, and cancelling doesn’t get you a refund either. If you can’t make your appointment, reschedule it within your testing window, online or by phone with Pearson VUE, more than 24 hours before it starts. The call center is open weekdays only.
If you don’t show up, arrive late, or try to change the appointment within 24 hours, you lose the exam fee, the sitting fee and your Authorization to Test. You’d then have to register with your board again and pay for a new exam.
