Part 107 practice tests, courses and study options

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) doesn’t release the questions on the live Unmanned Aircraft General-Small (UAG) test, so every Part 107 practice test is either an official sample or a company’s own question bank. The official samples sit on the FAA site of PSI Services, the FAA’s testing vendor, and the FAA printed sample UAG questions with chart images in its September 2026 testing advisory. For full-length practice, Pilot Institute, King Schools, Gleim and Sporty’s sell courses and question banks, each listed with the price on its own page.

Where can you find an official Part 107 practice test?

Start with the official samples, but know their limits. PSI’s sample test shows you the testing screen and the question style; the FAA’s September 2026 advisory shows how the new sectional-chart images look. Neither is a full bank of questions, because the FAA doesn’t release live ones, so use them to check the format and a paid question bank or your own study to drill.

Free FAA courses, and who can use them

The FAA runs three free online courses on Part 107 and small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) on FAASafety.gov, the FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) site. Only one of them can stand in for the UAG test: ALC-451, Part 107 Small UAS Initial, and only for pilots who already hold a Part 61 pilot certificate and meet its conditions, which the getting certified page lists.

The other two, ALC-677 and ALC-515, are recurrent training for people who already hold the certificate. If you hold no pilot certificate at all, there’s no online route to the first certificate: you pass the UAG test at a test center.

A course or a question bank?

A video course teaches the subjects from the start, then quizzes you. Pilot Institute and King Schools sell this kind of course, with lifetime access and a pass guarantee in their own terms.

A question bank suits you if you’ve read the FAA material and want to drill. Gleim sells its Remote Pilot test prep online with a book, with 12 months of access, and Sporty’s sells Remote Pilot Test Prep for the web and phones. Sporty’s says its test mode builds 60-question sessions, the length of the real test.

None of them is needed to book: the UAG test takes no instructor endorsement or course certificate.

A study path for the UAG test

  1. Read the Remote Pilot Airman Certification Standards (ACS). It lists every knowledge area the test can cover and how much of the test each one takes.
  2. Learn each area from the FAA’s Remote Pilot Study Guide, a book or a course.
  3. Practice reading sectional charts with the FAA’s testing supplement for remote pilots, FAA-CT-8080‑2H.
  4. Try PSI’s sample test and the FAA’s sample questions to get used to the screen and the chart images.
  5. Drill practice questions until you’re well past 70%, the passing score, then book.
