Tooth #30 has no response to cold or electric pulp testing, isn’t tender to percussion or palpation, and shows a periapical radiolucency. The patient has no symptoms. What is the diagnosis?
20 practice questions in the style of the exam.
How to use these INBDE practice questions
Questions 1 to 5 are diagnosis and treatment planning, 6 to 11 oral health management and 12 to 14 practice and profession, close to the JCNDE’s split of 36, 42 and 22%. The last 6 lean on the Foundation Knowledge areas: structure and materials, disease and microorganisms, pharmacology and research.
Aim for 15 right, which is 75%. That’s our own target. The INBDE is reported as pass or fail, and 75 is the minimum on a scale from 49 to 99, not 75% of the questions right. After each answer you can ask the tutor to explain it another way, and anything you miss comes back at the end.
Where can you find more INBDE practice questions?
The Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) posts a free PDF of sample questions, written by the people who build the exam, and paid courses sell larger banks. Our 20 aren’t from the JCNDE. Steer clear of “remembered” questions from past exams: the JCNDE says obtaining, using or sharing exam questions is strictly prohibited.
