What can hold up your score
- No approved writing sample. If it’s your first LSAT, you need LSAT Argumentative Writing done and approved first, and processing can take up to three weeks.
- A hold on your LSAC account.
- Neither one changes your score. It just stays unreleased until it’s sorted.
Keep it, cancel it, or preview it
- Cancel: within six calendar days of your test date, in JD Services, by email to LSACinfo@LSAC.org or by phone at 1.800.336.3982.
- Score Preview: $46 if you buy it before testing starts, $87 after testing ends. You see your score, then have six calendar days to keep or cancel it. If you do nothing, it’s kept and sent to schools.
- Score Audit: if you think there’s a mistake, LSAC rechecks your answers for $150 ($75 with a fee waiver). Your score can go up or down.
Who sees your score
Only you and the law schools you apply to. Schools get it in the law school reports sent through CAS. You can also release it to more schools and programs through LSAC’s Candidate Referral Service, or to your prelaw advisor. LSAC doesn’t give it to anyone else, including parents and partners.
How long LSAT scores are valid
Your report can show up to 12 results from the current testing year and the five before it, and that includes cancellations and absences. Testing years run from July 1 to June 30.
LSAC’s example: if you apply in January 2027, schools can see scores from July 2021 to June 2027. Scores from before July 2021 aren’t valid for admission anymore.
