How to register for the MCAT, and the 2027 test dates

You sign up for the MCAT in the AAMC’s MCAT Registration System with your AAMC account, and you pick a date and a Pearson test center in the same step. As of October 2026, all 35 US test dates for 2027 are open, from January 15 to September 11, 2027. You can book, move or cancel a seat until 10 days before the test.

How to register

  1. Create an AAMC account, or sign in to the one you already have. Don’t make a second one if you forget your password.
  2. If you’ll need Fee Assistance, apply and get approved first. The lower fees don’t apply after you’ve paid.
  3. In the MCAT Registration System, enter your first and last names exactly as they appear on the ID you’ll bring.
  4. Pick a test date and a test center, and pay. You can only hold one MCAT appointment at a time.
  5. Watch for a confirmation email. If it doesn’t come within 24 hours, your appointment wasn’t booked, so try again.

Canada has its own calendar, with 36 dates in 2027. Some fall on days the US doesn’t test, such as July 24 and August 6. Dates marked * are only at select centers: January 30 in Toronto and Vancouver, May 14 in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver, and July 9 and August 28 in Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver.

The AAMC won’t give the MCAT in Quebec in 2027 because of Bill 96 rules. You register through the same AAMC system as everyone else.

Deadlines to know

  • The last day to book, change or cancel is 10 days before your test, at 11:59 p.m. local test center time. The AAMC doesn’t extend deadlines.
  • Name changes must also be done at least 10 days before.
  • If your ID shows initials instead of names, call AAMC Services (202-828-0600) at least 30 days before your test.
  • If you need testing accommodations, you must be approved and have your scheduling request in with Pearson at least 15 days before your test.

Who can take it, and when to test

You can take the MCAT if you’re preparing to apply to a health professions program that accepts MCAT scores, such as MD or DO programs, and you aren’t already enrolled in one. Anyone else, including students who want to switch schools, needs special permission from the AAMC first.

The AAMC’s own advice on timing is short: take the exam when you feel most prepared and ready. Before you pick a date, check when the schools you’re applying to need your score, and allow 30 to 35 days for it to come out. You can only hold one appointment at a time, so a retake has to be booked after your first test.
