When do NPTE results come out?
Each sitting has a fixed day when FSBPT reports scores to jurisdictions, and your status appears on your dashboard that day. The free score report follows about a week later. Both dates for every 2027 sitting are on the test dates page.
Some scores are held back for extra checks before release. FSBPT says it can usually release a held score within a week of the planned date, though busy sittings can take longer. If it asks you how you prepared, answer quickly and accurately; a candidate who doesn’t finish the review within 60 days of testing can have the score canceled.
- A mismatch between your registration and Prometric’s records
- Answers that suggest a very narrow range of studying, or a pattern very like another candidate’s
- An incident at the test center, such as using a phone or notes during a break
- A very low score, near guessing, or a very large jump from your last attempt
Your NPTE score report
The free report on your dashboard shows your scaled score and your pass or fail status. Download it while it’s free; after that you have to buy an Individual Score Report. If you want a breakdown, FSBPT sells a Performance Feedback Report that shows how you did by content area, body system and section, for any NPTE taken after January 1, 2013.
NPTE scores are final once issued. FSBPT doesn’t rescore exams on request and doesn’t release questions or answers. If you think a question was flawed, FSBPT’s advice is to note it on your note board and put it in the survey at the end of the exam.
Sending your NPTE score to another state
Your score goes automatically to the jurisdiction you picked when you registered. To send it to another state, use Score Transfer to State in your dashboard any time after your score is released. The transfer is electronic and immediate, though the state may take a while to see it, and you still need to apply to that state for a license. An Individual Score Report isn’t a score transfer, and licensing boards accept only FSBPT’s official Score Transfer Report.
The other route is a compact privilege. If you live in a state that’s an active member of the Physical Therapy Licensure Compact, hold a license there, and want to work in another active compact state, you can apply for a privilege through the PT Compact Commission instead.
After you pass
Once your NPTE results show a pass, FSBPT has already sent your score, but the license comes from your state. Contact your board to finish the process, including any jurisprudence exam it requires. FSBPT’s Licensing Authorities page lists every board’s contact details and its license verification link, which is where you can check a license once it’s issued.
