How to book a CIRO exam

It takes two portals, both run by Fitch Learning. You enrol and pay in the Enrolment Portal of the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), then go to the Candidate Portal to book your CIRO exam at a time that suits you. You can write online with a remote proctor or in person at a test centre in Canada.

  • 2Portals: one to enrol, one to book
  • OnlineOr at a test centre in Canada
  • Fitch LearningRuns both portals for CIRO

What are the steps to book a CIRO exam?

These are the steps, in order:

  1. Check that you’re eligible. Enrolment isn’t open to everyone, and you confirm your eligibility in an attestation when you enrol.
  2. Sign up in the Enrolment Portal: create your candidate profile, choose the exam and pay. Your dealer may pay for you through its Firm Portal access.
  3. Log in to the Candidate Portal, which you can use only once you’ve enrolled, and schedule your exam.
  4. Choose to write online or at a test centre.
  5. Read the Exam Candidate Conduct Policy before the day.

Are there set exam dates?

CIRO’s exams are offered online and in person, at test centres across Canada, and CIRO says you schedule an appointment as it fits you. Its pages don’t list fixed exam dates or sittings.

In the Candidate Portal you can also cancel an exam or change its date. The portal holds your results and transcripts as well, and Conduct Training once you’re approved.
