How much is the MCCQE exam fee?
| Item | Fee |
|---|---|
| physiciansapply.ca account setup | $150 |
| Source verification request (SVR) | $232 a credential |
| MCCQE application | $1,500 |
| Eligibility window extension | $120 |
| MCCQE appeal | $1,200 |
| Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) | $130 a copy |
The MCC takes Visa, MasterCard and prepaid or secured credit cards, but not Interac or Visa and MasterCard debit cards. The setup, SVR, extension and ECA fees aren’t refundable. If the MCCQE fee has gone up by the time you extend your window, you pay the difference as well.
The MCC reviews its fees every year and can change them without notice. You can claim a tuition tax credit for the MCCQE with the MCC’s receipt. Fees for the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) are on the LMCC page, and Prometric’s rescheduling charges are on the dates page.
Getting part of the MCCQE fee back
You get a partial refund, the $1,500 minus the $750 withdrawal fee, in these cases:
- You withdraw before you’ve booked a Prometric appointment
- You cancel your Prometric appointment more than 120 hours before it, then withdraw
- You let your eligibility window run out without writing the exam
Cancel with less than 120 hours to go, or miss the exam, and the whole fee is gone. If extenuating circumstances caused it, send supporting documents to the MCC no later than 15 days after your exam date and it will review a partial refund. Withdrawals take up to 15 business days to process, and one sent during a session may wait until the session ends.
Refunds go back to the card you paid with, or become a credit in your physiciansapply.ca account. Credit you don’t use for three full calendar years is forfeited on December 31 of the third year.
