PEBC latest news for pharmacist candidates, 2026

The Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC) posts its announcements on its Latest News page, and emails candidates directly. The biggest change for pharmacists in 2026 was the end of the Evaluating Examination: from January 2027, international pharmacy graduates (IPGs) go straight to Part I. Here are the PEBC latest news items for pharmacists, by the date PEBC gave each one, with what it means for you.

What did PEBC’s latest news cover in 2026?

  • January 7, 2026: masks became optional at the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) and the pharmacy technicians’ Objective Structured Practical Examination (OSPE), starting with the February 2026 OSCE. If you wear one, it must be the PEBC-supplied ASTM Level 2 or 3 mask with ear loops handed out at registration, and you must stay easy to understand.
  • February 12, 2026: PEBC stepped up monitoring of its computer-based exams. For remote proctoring, that includes checking what’s running on your computer and recording your screen for the whole exam, and PEBC may cancel results that show irregularities.
  • March 9, 2026: Richard Piticco became PEBC’s Chief Executive Officer.
  • April 30, 2026: updated resources posted, including the blueprint (March 2026), the reference list (March 2026), the Part I sample questions (January 2026) and the OSCE sample stations (March 2026).
  • July 24, 2026: PEBC announced two-factor authentication for the Candidate Portal, starting at noon Eastern Time on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
  • August 10, 2026: PEBC last updated its New Certification Pathway page, which says the October 2026 Evaluating Examination is the last one and that, from January 2027, IPGs go straight to Part I and must pass it before Part II.
  • August 28, 2026: applications opened for the February 2027 Qualifying Examination, with a deadline of noon Eastern Time on November 19, 2026.

The biggest change: no more Evaluating Exam

PEBC’s last Evaluating Examination was on October 15, 2026. What that means if you passed it, failed it or never took it is on its own page.
