How to study for AP Exams: a free study planner

The best way to study for AP Exams is a little at a time, starting weeks before May, and finishing with real past questions. Pick the date of your first exam and the planner spreads 28 short lessons over the days you have left, then keeps the last days for a practice test and your weakest area.

How should you study for AP Exams in the last month?

Start with the Course and Exam Description for each subject. It shows the units, how much each one counts and the exam format, so you know where the points are. Then switch to real free-response questions from AP Central and score them with the official scoring guidelines.

If you’ve joined your class in My AP, use what’s in AP Classroom too: AP Daily videos for every unit, and progress checks your teacher can unlock. A week or so before the exam, open the Bluebook test preview so the screens and tools hold no surprises.

Tips for the essays and free-response questions

Write answers under the real time limit, then grade them point by point with the scoring guidelines. Compare them with the sample student responses, which show what a high-scoring answer looks like for that exact question.

On multiple choice, there’s no penalty for a wrong answer, so never leave one blank.

Taking more than one AP Exam?

Check the 2027 schedule first and study in the order of your exam dates. If two of your exams are at the same time, ask your AP coordinator about late testing, May 17-21.
