CSET Science: biology, chemistry, physics and general science

CSET Science is two subtests. Everyone takes Subtest I, general science. For Subtest II you pick one specialty: Life Sciences, Chemistry, Earth and Space Sciences, or Physics. The credential then covers general and integrated science plus that specialty. Both subtests are taken at a test center.

Both subtests in one 6-hour session cost $267, starting with Subtest I. You need 220 on each, and results come within 7 weeks.

Which CSET Science subtest is biology, chemistry or physics?

Biology is Life Sciences (217), which leads to Science: Biological Sciences. Earth and Space Sciences (219) leads to Science: Geosciences. Chemistry (218) and Physics (220) are their own concentrations. In every case you also need Subtest I.

What you get on screen

  • A scientific calculator, for every CSET Science subtest
  • A periodic table, for Subtest I and the Chemistry Subtest II
  • A reference sheet of constants and formulas, for the Physics Subtest II

Some written answers are worked by hand on a response sheet and scanned in.

Foundational-Level General Science

This credential needs only Subtest I (215): 100 multiple-choice questions and 4 written answers in 4 hours, for $133. It authorizes teaching general, introductory and integrated science, with integrated science limited to grade 8 and below.
