Fluoxetine is prescribed for a client with major depressive disorder. What is its main mechanism of action?
20 practice questions in the style of the exam.
How to use these 20 questions
Questions 1 and 2 are biological bases, 3 to 5 cognitive-affective bases, 6 and 7 social and cultural bases, 8 to 10 lifespan development, 11 to 13 assessment and diagnosis, 14 to 16 treatment and intervention, 17 research and statistics, and 18 to 20 ethics. Real Part 1 questions have three or four options. Ours all have four.
Aim for 15 right, which is 75%. That’s our own target, not ASPPB’s: the real exam reports a scaled score from 200 to 800, and ASPPB recommends 500 for independent practice. Wrong answers cost nothing on the real exam either, so answer every question. If an explanation doesn’t click, ask the tutor to put it another way.
Where can you find more EPPP practice questions?
ASPPB’s free Candidate Handbook has a few sample questions, with answers, in its appendixes. ASPPB also sells sample exams built from retired EPPP items to candidates their board has approved, and prep companies sell larger question banks. Our 20 don’t come from ASPPB, so treat them as practice on the content, not a preview of real items.
