GMAT test dates: when you can take it

There’s no exam calendar to wait for: you choose from the open GMAT test dates when you book on mba.com, and online appointments run around the clock. GMAC says online dates open six months ahead on a rolling basis, and its fee waiver FAQ notes that weekend dates can fill early.

When should you take the GMAT?

GMAC suggests testing a few weeks before your application deadlines, so there’s room for a retake. The Official Score Report takes about three to five days after the test, so count that in too.

There’s no rush the other way: scores stay valid for five years.

How far ahead to book

If you need a weekend at a particular test center, book early. Online, appointments are offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. GMAC doesn’t take walk-ins.

Can you change your GMAT test date?

Yes, for a fee that GMAC lists on its exam payment page on mba.com. If you used a fee waiver, it stays tied to the date you first booked and can’t move to a new one.
