The Kansas Driving Handbook PDF

KDOR posts it free on its website, and a printed copy costs $2 at a driver's license office. The current Kansas Driving Handbook PDF is the non-commercial driver's manual, revised February 2022, and the knowledge test questions are based on it. Over 112 pages it covers permit and license rules, Kansas laws, signs, safe driving and all three parts of the driving test.

Where can you get the Kansas Driving Handbook PDF?

On KDOR's Getting a Driver's License page, which links the English handbook and a Spanish edition, the Manual de conducción de Kansas. The Spanish edition is older: it's marked revised February 2019, so check anything surprising against the English text. KDOR's FAQ says you can download the handbook free or buy it printed for $2 at an office.

The handbook says it summarizes parts of the law, and that Kansas law takes precedence where the two differ or the handbook leaves something out.

Is there an audio or printed version?

There's a printed copy for $2 at a driver's license office. KDOR's pages list the PDF and the Spanish manual but no audio edition of the handbook. The nearest thing is KDOR's Alexa practice test, which reads questions out loud.

Handbooks for motorcycle and CDL tests

Riders study the Kansas Motorcycle Handbook (revised 2020), which is built on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's manual and adds Kansas statutes and sample questions. Commercial drivers use KDOR's Commercial Driver's License Manual, version March 2025.
