You see this sign on the left side of a two-lane road. What does it tell you?
20 practice questions in the style of the knowledge test.
How close is a Kansas learner's permit practice test to the real one?
Close in topic and style, but not in wording. KDOR doesn't publish its question bank. What it does publish is the handbook the questions are based on, and the handbook's own sample questions, which give three choices, a, b and c. These 20 follow that format and cover the same ground: signs and markings, the permit rules, right-of-way, speed limits, sharing the road and alcohol.
The same written exam is used for a full license if you're 17 or older, so this practice works for that too. The handbook says that once you pass it at 17 or older, you can go on to the driving test.
KDOR's own practice questions
Every section of the Kansas Driving Handbook ends with a few Test Your Knowledge questions and their answers, and Section 11 has 13 more sample questions. The handbook says the Test Your Knowledge questions may be on the test, so work through all of them.
KDOR also has a voice practice test for Amazon's Alexa. Say "Alexa, enable Kansas driving test" and Alexa asks multiple-choice questions that you answer by saying the letter.
Practicing for a CDL or motorcycle test
These questions are for the car permit. For a commercial license, KDOR's CDL manual (March 2025 version) has Test Your Knowledge questions in its sections, and the Kansas Motorcycle Handbook (revised 2020) has sample questions with answers on page 44.
