New Mexico driver’s license practice test

This New Mexico driver’s license practice test has 20 free questions written from the New Mexico Driver Manual, the book MVD’s written knowledge exam is based on. MVD wants 70% or better, so 14 of 20 is a pass here. Seven questions show a sign, a signal or road markings. Pick an answer to see why it’s right, and anything you miss comes back at the end.

Question 1 of 20

How long must you hold an instructional permit before you can move up to a provisional license?

20 practice questions in the style of the permit test.

How close is this New Mexico driver’s license practice test to the real one?

The bar is the same: 70%. The length may not be, since MVD doesn’t publish how many questions the knowledge exam has. These questions are ours, written from the manual, not MVD’s, so treat a pass as a sign you’re on track rather than a promise.

They follow the main parts of the manual: signals and signs, lanes and right-of-way, speed and parking, safe driving, sharing the road and alcohol, plus the permit rules.

Then try MVD’s own practice app

MVD’s free NM Practice Driving Test app is the official practice test, for iPhone and Android. It’s a good second check after these 20. The where-to-learn page shows how to use it, and compares other apps and websites.
