How many questions on the Alberta learner’s test are about signs?
Alberta doesn’t say, and it doesn’t describe a separate signs part. The Driver’s Guide says the test asks about safe driving practices, driving laws and road signs, and alberta.ca gives one pass rule: 25 out of 30 overall.
So you won’t fail just because of a few sign questions, but don’t skip them. Signs are some of the easiest marks to collect if you’ve learned the shapes and colours.
What the questions look like
You answer on a computer at the registry agent office. Each question has a few answers to pick from, and one is right. They’re about what to do in real situations: who goes first at a four-way stop, what a flashing red light means, where to stop for a school bus.
Numbers come up a lot. Learn the school and playground zone times, the 30 km/h zone speed, the two-second following distance and the demerit limits for new drivers.
Is the test timed?
Alberta.ca doesn’t publish a time limit for the Class 7 knowledge test. Plan to arrive well before your registry agent closes, so you aren’t rushed.
If you don’t pass
You can only take one knowledge test a day, and you pay for each attempt. So the earliest you can try again is the next day. Go over the chapters you found hard before you go back.
