Where do you take the Alberta Class 7 test?
Most Alberta registry agent offices give the knowledge test. You do it on a computer there, then the agent gives you a vision test. Pass both and you can buy your learner’s licence the same visit.
Registry agents are private businesses, so hours and services vary. Check your nearest office before you go.
Help on the computer test
- The Class 7 test comes in 25 languages on the computer
- An audio version reads the questions and answers through headphones; some offices charge for disposable headphones
- An oral test in English, read aloud by the registry agent, is available for Class 7
- You can use a paper English conversion dictionary if you need a little help with English
Free Class 7 practice you can do online
Start with the official guide. The questions on the real test are taken from it. Then use practice tests to check yourself.

Watch out for sites selling an “online learner’s test”
Lots of sites call their practice quizzes an “online Class 7 test”. They can help you prepare, but none of them gives you a licence. Only a registry agent can. If a site asks you to pay to take the real test online, skip it.
