Casper test for nursing programs

Each nursing program decides whether it asks for Casper, so the program’s own admissions page is the final word. Acuity Insights lists nursing among the fields that use Casper. Its format page describes the standard 11-scenario test and a shorter one for Australian teacher education, with no separate nursing version. What a Casper test for nursing changes is the test type, the deadline and how the program weighs your result.

Which Casper test type do nursing applicants take?

Acuity’s list of Canadian test types for 2026-2027 doesn’t name nursing. It sorts programs by level instead:

Acuity categoryTest type
Canadian Undergraduate Health SciencesCanada Casper 1 (English)
Canadian Graduate Health SciencesCanada Casper 2 (English)
Canadian Graduate Professional Programs, in FrenchCanada Casper 2 (Français)

Find your nursing program on the Dates and Fees page to see the exact test type, dates and deadline before you pay. A test booked as the wrong type isn’t refunded.

Two nursing programs’ own Casper rules

These are each school’s rules, from its own calendar, and other nursing programs set theirs differently.

  • UBC Vancouver, Bachelor of Science in Nursing: every applicant must complete Casper and have the result sent to the UBC MacIsaac School of Nursing, or they won’t be considered. UBC says Casper is usually offered in January and/or February, and a result from an earlier year has to be redone. Decisions combine academic standing, the supplemental application score and Casper.
  • Memorial University, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Collaborative): its 2026-2027 calendar says applicants may be required to complete Casper, and selection is based mainly on academic performance, which may be combined with Casper.

Applying to several nursing programs

  • If they use the same test type, you take Casper once and add every program to your distribution list.
  • Each program on the list is a separate distribution fee, even two programs at one school.
  • You can add programs later, as long as you meet each one’s distribution deadline.
  • For bilingual programs, your first reservation of the cycle locks in English or French.
  • You can’t retake the same test type in the cycle, and your result doesn’t carry over to the next one.

Practising for a nursing Casper

Acuity doesn’t publish nursing-only practice. Its free practice test matches the test type you booked, so it’s the closest match to your real test. Our sample scenarios include health settings, such as a clinic front desk and a clinical placement, alongside work and school ones.
