When do Casper test results arrive?
| Who gets what | When |
|---|---|
| Programs on your list get your result | About 2-3 weeks after the test |
| Programs you add after that | Within 1 business day |
| You get your quartile, by email | Usually about 4-5 weeks after the test |
Acuity emails you when your quartile is ready. To see it, log in, find your completed Casper test and choose View quartile score. Acuity’s results article gives a second date, saying quartiles are available by December 15 of the current year. Plan on the 4-5 weeks, and if they’ve passed with no email, check your account, then ask support through the chat bubble.
What your Casper score means
There are four quartiles. Each shows where your answers fell next to other applicants on the same test type, in the same cycle. The first quartile is the lowest group: Acuity says it means other applicants had stronger responses, and that this doesn’t mean you failed.
Acuity doesn’t call any quartile good or bad. It says most programs consider all quartiles and use Casper as one data point among many. Your quartile can also change from one cycle to the next if you were near a boundary, the applicant pool changed, or your skills grew.
Why you don’t see your actual score
Acuity doesn’t give applicants their score. Programs get a single combined number with no breakdown by topic, and Acuity treats it like reference letters or interview notes, which applicants don’t see either.
How Casper is scored
- Each scenario goes to a different rater, so no one rates you twice. The same rater reads both answers in a scenario but scores each one on its own.
- Raters see only your answers, not your name, age or photo.
- They score substance: your thinking, judgement and communication, not spelling, grammar, typing speed or length alone.
- Raters are trained, certified each year and monitored. Casper isn’t scored by AI.
- All your ratings are averaged, then standardized so your result shows where you rank among applicants who took the same test.
Checking that programs got your result
Acuity doesn’t email you when results go out. In your account, “Completed - Results delivered” means they’ve been sent, and “Completed - Results pending” means they haven’t yet. Your name, date of birth and ID numbers must match your applications exactly, or a program may not be able to match your result.
CaRMS works differently. Acuity sends your result to CaRMS, and you then upload it yourself to each CaRMS program that asks for it.
